What Are The Pera Algorand Governance NFT's?

Since the 2nd term of Algorand governance (G2), the company behind the Pera Algo Wallet has rewarded eligible users with special Algorand Governance NFT's.

More specifically, eligible users are those who committed ALGOs to the Algorand Governance Program and participated in the subsequent voting sessions. The NFT's can also be claimed if you participated in the governance periods through platforms like Folks Finance, AlgoFi, GARD, and Pact's staking programs.

The latest Pera Algorand NFT's were released on the 14th of April as a part of the Governance 6 NFT rewards.

Tiers of Rewards

The type of NFT reward each user was given depended on the amount of ALGOs they had committed in the given period. See all the required committed ALGO of each Algorand Governance NFT tier below. They have been the same for every governance period.

👶 Baby Governor: 10-100 ALGO

👦 Lil' Governor: 100-1000 ALGO

🎩 The Governor: 1,000-10,000 ALGO

💰 OG Governor: 10,000 or more ALGO

How To Get a Pera Governance NFT

There are two different ways you can get your hands on a Pera Governance NFT. Either through having committed and voted in a governance period, or by purchasing them on any Algorand NFT market.

Claiming Directly Through Pera

You can claim your own Algorand Governance NFT from the Pera governance page if you have correctly participated in any governance period, except G1, which there weren't any rewards for.

If you're eligible for an NFT reward from Pera you'll receive one straight to your Algorand wallet after claiming it. Which NFT you get depends on the amount of ALGOs you committed and what governance you participated in. You can claim one NFT for each governance you participated in, however, you're only able to do so for a short time after each governance period has ended.

You can claim whether you staked through Algorand Foundation, or through Folks Finance and GARD's staking programs.

Buying from an NFT Marketplace

Don't worry in case you missed out on claiming your Algorand Governance NFT during the correct time window. All the Pera Governance NFT's are free to trade on any Algorand NFT market, such as Algogems. Keep in mind that it might be a pricey endeavor if you plan to collect them all.

Benefits of Owning Pera NFT's

The main benefit of holding any of the Pera NFT's is that you get a discount of 50% on any swapping fees while using the Pera Algo Wallet dApp.

Pera has partnered up with the decentralized exchange Tinyman to allow real-time swapping. They charge an industry-standard fee of 0.8% for any swap, but if you hold any Pera Algorand Governance NFT that fee will only be 0.4%.

Note: The discount doesn't stack, so holding any more than one NFT doesn't decrease the fee. Additionally all the NFT's offer the same discount no matter what tier or what governance period they represent.

How Much Are They Worth?

The value of a Pera Governance NFT depends on which governance period it's from and what tier of NFT it belongs to. As a rule, the earlier the governance period the NFT is from, the more it's worth. In addition, the NFT's from the highest tier (OG Governors) tend to be worth the most.

Moreover, these NFT's give you the bragging rights to show that you're an original governor supporting the Algorand ecosystem by participating in the voting sessions. After all, NFT's are all about the gloat, right?

The Most Valuable Algorand Governance NFT

According to the NFT Explorer the most expensive sale ever of a Pera Algorand Governance NFT was an OG Governor NFT from the G2 period. The highest it has sold for is 1600 $ALGO. See the picture above. This is the highest price for any Pera NFT, excluding the limited edition Pera Governance NFT known as "Lucky Governor".

The most expensive non-OG Governor NFT by Pera is the Baby Governor from the G2 period, which was sold for 697 $ALGO at its highest.

The average price of all the NFT's sold in this collection is roughly 70 $ALGO.

The Lucky Governor is an exclusive NFT belonging to the Algorand Governor NFT collection by Pera. It was released to honor community members who win a special event or show their valor. The highest a Lucky Governor NFT has sold for is an extraordinary 2900 $ALGO. Only 200 Lucky Governor Pera NFT's have been minted.
